I'm guessing that's just an open cross section prototype as things could get funky when cells fill with mud  :cheesy:

Looks like an interesting development/evolution on the 'tweel'.

The ride was alledged to be quite good (according to Michelin, anyway!), but then there was no comments made on early footage about what happened if the cells did fill with clag! I'll presume US army is doing plenty of tests. I'd love to see the costings for it.

Well found!

I think the trick would be to put one inside a normal pneumatic so that it was pneumatic most of the time but the cell structure would support it in the event of a "flat". That would help eliminate clag and provide better day-to-day ride.

If thats no good then they would make interesting strawberry planters.

I've often wondered if it would be worth filling your tiers with the expanding builders foam stuff, to create a mousse effect wheel.

Interesting concept, but how would you change tyre pressure for different conditions.  I would assume that if they developed them for use on Public vehicle they would cover the sides (side walls of the tyre) of the honey coombe it would be a real problem if the honey coomb filled will the thick mud we had at Bramcote for both the tyre flexability and balance.

Nothing in this world is new though. This reminds me a little of the Lunar Rover steel wire wheels.

What I whantto know is, how do I let down the pressure to drive over sand?
