at the moment im making sliders.

money from that will pay for a new good welder and work will commense once more. there will be a tec article reguarding suspension conponents soon as im looking at diversing into the world of flex. again when moola comes my way ill be getting  a tube bender so the tube work will be done and ill be half way there.

im taking my time more this time around and ill be better off for it!

i would get it built & do some Uk events before even considering sticking it in a container to go to malaysia, hell i would do that even before submitting an entry to ladoga

this one will not be going to malaysia, my dads D2 will be/ might be at the moment were just thinking out loud but i know the rainforest challenge is something he really wants to do.

and yes the disco will have the minimum ammount of work done to it to allow me into class 3. just to see how it works/if it works. i know the awdc rules are chanding/have changed too, i will have to give them a look. there are still alot of events in the uk that i would love to do.

lee, the BMX is cheaper than going to the gym.....for that reason alone i wont be staying off it.

and the clicky clicky sound of my cassete hub really annoys my nabough...which is good becasue hes a dick!

Some sort of locking diff component? It's obviously a drivetrain part as it has splines. I would guess that the teeth on top of it engage with a similar component to lock the diff, with the actuator resting in the groove around the part to slide it?

warm........your 100% right in what your saying ....but im incredably pleased with what i have done, and your going to have to keep guessing

araghhh i cant be arsed to play this game anymore! as of 2:00 yesterday i became the owner of a pare of unimog 404 portal axles, difflocks intact, evereything in full working order and the offset swaped on the front axle. im not saying how much i payed but it was under the cost of 2 ARBs!

unfortunatley i have no photos becasue i was in such a rush to ge tthe axles(before anyone else did) as i had to return to my house in essex earley. piccies up sunday :D

there are now 4 axles sitting in my garage if anyone wants some landrover 24spline axle parts or a full 24 spline axle cheap let me know and ill put your name on them.

a good day  :D

settled on a few ideas, im not going to be running coilovers like i threatend mainly becasue im trying to cut costs so i can go out and play sooner :D
to fit the tyres i want im going to have to extend the wheelbase by about 4" not ideal but its either that or cutting my foot wells up and moving the pedals around which isnt something i would like to do really :|
rear suspension links will remain the same as the landrover ones, ie A-frame and trailing arms but might make something simmilar to the gigglepin arms as they fit flush to the chassis as i bent both landrover trailing arms, front will be either 3-link and panhard rod or 4-link with panhard rod.....still undecided, guess it will depend on how many johnny joints i can get hold of.

steering will probibly be done with the landrover PAS box with out the pitman arm and i will just plumb in hoses for a hydro ram, i ahve the drag link from the mog so i can fit a 1 way ram to that. (unless i can sell the pas box, how much are 2nd hand ones worth?)

the landrover axles are taking up space in my garage if anyone wants them there £100 for the pare with dif guards and a full pollybush kit need a little TLC but can be fixed up they would be ideal for anyone with a project or some one with 12 spline axles wanting to upgrade to 24. pm me

diff clearance with 33" simex jungle trekker is 16" it was straight but the tyre moved when i took the photo

lr shaft at the top mog at the bottom

lr diff and mog diff

grinded about 30 years of crud off of the axle case and primed and sprayed it. probibly not the final colour, there were splats of green left from the origional paint and i think that would look cool.

not sure if you can see it in the pic but that arm is bent at thenut end not much but noticable when you hold it

new plan is move the standard springs inward so they mount under the chassis, that way i get to extend my wheelbase and get a little lift

mogs are wide! really wide! hahahaha thats with out the portal box on there aswellgoing to need wheels with a bit of an inset!

still not sure weather i should move that back more. ddont really want to chop toomuch more of the tray away but dont want to chop too many of the brackets off!

we like it when there is a day of progress like this learnt alot andwalked away with no scuffed knuckles :D  would appreciate some feed back on the whole thing.

:O They are wide

When you posted pics of it with no axles on i thought omg what is he doing, but now youve got mog axle's to go on its going to be a BEAST!

Do you reckon you can have this finished this side of christmas

Are you moving the rad to the back?

it will be done this side o crimbo if i dont run into any problems and the rad will be in the back yes but i am un sure of the configuration. dont know weather to have it right in the back begind the tank...or i can have it infront of the tank or i can have it in the cab(boxed up) and have air channels comming from each side of the body work, but that mught just be a mud trap,. dont sopose it will mate too much difference really, i have that monster kenlowe. i dont really want it up high as i am not running a rear window and if pipes burst the i will be f***** also im avoiding up high weight....so much so that the roof is being lowerd between 1-2" and made from glas fibre. i was playing with it before i broke my hand and its not nice to work with and i was getting no where so my step dad will be doing that.......he makes it look sickeningly easey
