daisy 2.0 build
« on: November 19, 2008, 18:58:42 »
OK....where to start

.....I'm not happy with the disco. all in, it preforms very well and i can not fault it on anything. but everything i have done just seems small, i would like bigger and better things out of it. the disco was in a state of finished-ness as few weeks ago but i haven't been updating my post for reasons you will all understand soon.i am also sick of the fashion thing, when i started this build disco trucks were few and far between, not a diecent build thread and not very cooperative builders. now there are a fair few of them knocking around, all pretty much looking the same and i don't like this. i like to be different.so my solution is a rebuild! as discussed in my old thread i am going to shunt nose it! yes, i am actually going through with it this time! i have many many plans, plans which i am yet to see on a disco and if all goes well i will be at Ladoga 09 which is something i have wanted to have a go at ever since i started this landrover lark.

spec list will include

front and rear roll hoops from north offroad
front and rear coilovers
front and rear 1-link(provided the company has them out by that time)
front and rear STUD150s
all panels(where possible) lightend or removed
rad moved to the rear
twin intercoolers
37"interco boggers
HD axle set
15" beadlocking wheels
front and rear D44 winch trays

would like portals...but there too damn expensive could get a large am mount of the build done with the money i would have to spend to get a diecent set.

most parts of the truck will be stripped out and either be re conned or re-built. i know there will be doubters reading this but unlike a certain ex-member i usually go through with  my plans unless there is a legitimate reason to stop.....
anyways i have deliberately strung this out for as long as possible to get you all to read the intro before you notice that there are photos attached.

now you will realise that i really do mean it

thanks for reading

Superb! Like your style and your ideas, I admire people who just get on and do things with their vehicles, I'm still building my hybrid 2a/90 and I started it before my first daughter was born and she's 11 in a couple of weeks

I'll get it finished one of these days, really just needs the engine plumbed in(ripped out the V8 and stuck a diesel in) and the electrics tidied but its been like that for so long, you've spurred me on to get it finished now

how tireing! i dont know if you have ever lifted a door but there bloody heavy! and theres 2 of them!
whos idea was that! anyways, took them off. cut off the front body mounts, gave the front end of the chassis a bit of a tidy up. if you all cleaned the gunk that settles on top of your chassis rails you all would be better off on fuel! good god! there was loads of it! took the front suspension off too(is all up for sale if yany of you are interested) took longer than i hoped as i had a problem with one of my spring compressors. hopefully getting some dosh tonight aswell so parts may start arriving soon  took the inlet manifold off and gave it a bit of a clean but im nowhere near getting it how i want it.
also managed to clear aload of room...so now i can move around....dance do whhat ever i want :D

You could try one of those flexible drill bit attachments with a small soft wire brush or other dremmell accessory. If you have a dremmell or similar die grinder I think you can get flexi extensions for those to.

Best of luck Boss, you aint playin games!

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

you know its cold when you lean on your car and you arm gets stuck to it! also the stones on the drive are frozen together! was in the garage with a big thick coat on and  wooly hat and a buff....looked like a dodgy ninja

more violation has occoured! pulled the doors apart, i can lift them with one arm now!!!!! huzzar! still a long way to go though :-k
if anyone needs glass or wants central locking actuators let me know :)

sprayed one side black, not sure on it, want to go black becasue its a wideley avalable colour, i couldnt find anywhere that would sell me the correct paint in spraycan form.....had to settle with fords forrest green urghhhh! close enough match though.

looks like im going to have to chop some of the front chassis away now to get the desired effect. may also mean i have to go full hydro....also something im not keen on. the temptation of a trayback is becoming greater by the day! i dont really want to becasue everey james blunt and his dog is using a tray back and i dont do fashion.

another benifit if spraying it black is that its not like a black bord! can write all my notes/to do list on there which is handy :D
anyway, photos for you i will be doing more measuring tomorow and see how much needs trimming.sorry theres not much in the way of a build at the moment but the small amount of dosh i did get together my female spent on x-mas stuff. not impressed!

done some thinking with the help of the calculator.......im going to have to cuth the chassis down at the front by about 2-4 inches and cut the cross member out, the rear i will have to cut off even more! and weld on some straight pieces of box (rather do this than chop the winch trays about) not good:(
cost of things are going up aswell...just seen some of the new breed of russian trucks.....if im going to be competitive in any way over there i will need portals  more to the list of stuff to buy.....

devon 4x4 want any advertising over seas jake?

hmm....cost is irrelivant if its something you do anyway. it is very much a case of you get as much out of it as you put in.....

think the ker-ching-ing is a bit premature m8 at the moment the only bits that i need from D44 are the trays and the boggers. and maby a winch man if you want to come along ;)

was chipping away again today. doing more measuring, little of this little of that. re attached a door and the difference that not having anything in there is increadable! its so light on the hinges! black is now the decided colour. been measuring up and considering a trayback but i think it will look too much like chris abels rangerover....i do not want this. so i might just leave it. cleaned out the inlet, had to do it the old fashon way and use rags....i have blisters on my fingers :(
but what ever all worth it in the end.
