Dude i have been following your builds and am some what in awe of them.
but one thing puzzles me.. how you can afford to do all this.. i'm 18 and i am
struggling just to keep mine on the road! let alone thinking about buying swamp boggers
and winches ect..

dan,i work my arse off! i dont drink/smoke/drugs/pay rent(in money)/have kids and i have built up the other things i do prior to this
i actually started to build this before i had a valid uk licance so a car wasnt sucking funds away...
they dont actually work out to be that much aslong as you do research and plan exactley what your going to do and shop around a little. the hardest thing to do is find a location to build one if you dont already have one :lol:

went over to overland today and pulled a favor, came back as the propriotor of a RRC bonnet with the pannel behind it. but before i started to mess about with that i wanted to see what the disco looked like with the standard bonnet and wing on. not bad as it turned out! diddnt really want to got for the RRC bonnet becasue ut would then look like a RR and i would have to explane that to evereyone who diddnt know. not sure weather ill bother with the RR bonnet :lol:.
sorry there isnt too much building going on. im doing alot of measuring and there are no parts coming in at the moment fingers crossed there will be soon.

i bitched for glynn yates the other week ( well...briefly until it broke as usual  :roll: and ended up using my truck  :roll:)
and in all honestly, i was expecting big things from the winch, but in realitly, it was crap, ok they will pull all day, but 8274's are quicker
i reached the summit of a hill that salesy was doing at the side of me quicker than he got there, and im running a 8274 with single motor ( ok on 24v through 12v )
and, they dont work when your on your side  :roll:
a rescent test also showed that the twinmotor 8274 was twice as fast as the stud, pulling a car up a hill in 16s vs the studs 32s

dan, john could not provide me with a vid of the stud150 in action...like i say i want to go to russia and i hear that lecci winches dont last too long. when i was talking to john he said that they were geared the same as a mile marker type-r and used the same motor to which i thought"hey a meatey type-r for not as much money!" however when stefan came over to pick up my wheels he was saying that a twinmotor 8274 would work fine. like you say the hydro winches do not work when your on your side which was always a concern. i am swaying towards the 8274 now...i think they will be easeyer to set up if nothing else. maby put a D&G PTO on the front too for the heavy long pulls.

winches are a long way down the line at the moment i still got to sort other bits a bobs out first( :roll:) not really worth investing in a winch and not have any wheels :lol:

how do you take a fiscous fan off? and maby a stuped question but does an intercooler need a fan????

You need a viscous fan spanner - like a normal one but cranked so that it can slot in behind the viscous unit and access the nut.

Does an intercooler need a fan? - No. Would it benefit from a fan at slow speed where cooling due to airflow is minimal? - Yes, at least I think it would. That said, I don't run one and haven't noticed a drop in performance. Then again, I gauge performance on the scale of crap, crapper, crappest. I'm currently crapper....

shall i point out the obvious.....the fan isnt cooling the intercooler...thats the < [-X>radiatior its there to cool :lol: :lol: :lol:

Remove the fan and see what happens :lol: :lol: :lol:

not being funny but would you not have been better getting some fun out of it before cutting it up again :-., as for bullnosing it...well ok if you need to but have you found it nescesarry?, tightly tucked in bumper and a decent lift with 35s fitted and they are ok

possibly a tiny ammount of air through the cooler....not being funny..yet again...but if you had to ask about removing the fan/cooler thing / and forgot the rad bit.....should you really be doing this???

maby if you read the thread you will have seen that the rad is going to the back which is why im asking about a fan for the cooler

Without wishing to get in between you two, I'll just point out that the fan shroud is shaped in such a way that it covers the intercooler - hence it does draw air over the intercooler - which is why its a pain to get out.

actually, the std viscous is pulling air through the intercooler aswel  :roll:
boss, fit a cooling fan to the intercooler (if your going to use full width), as at low speeds there in-efficiant, and are just sapping response time of the engine unless your at least aiding it with abit of air flow through it  :roll:

Iv heard of fitting small leccy fans to intercoolers - not sure the pros n cons tho, i just use a spanner and hammer to get the viscous off, harder without belt on her tho. looking good tho man, can't wait to see how it all comes together!

i used a cold chisel on my viscous fan nut and as already said remember its a left hand thread :)

camera is K.I.A. so you wont be receiving any more pics for a while. Ive taken the boot floor out and the fan is off....no chisel, used a fan spanner .
also came into the garage the other day and the disco was sitting on its brake disks! the [!Expletive Deleted!] Axel stands that i have(don't know where they came from they just appeared one day) bent and the end result is a much much lower disco :? really could have done with out that but its not the end of the world.
I'm looking at chopping out the rear panel but i don't really like to get wet(from rain) so i don't know weather i should or not, there is alot of weight to be saved and it will add an element of character to it, but sideways rain really pisses me off!. it is totally black now. looks a cool, went for satin black but now it shows up every dent scratch and crease in the body work....more character :D

rememberd i have one on my phone although i a a firm beliver that a phone is for calling people and not for going on the net and taking pictures! i guess that is the reason why the camera is [!Expletive Deleted!] on my phone :lol:

fair ammount of violation today. took the seats and head liner out. anyone know how to get the heater controles out of the dash?????
and i chopped the rear window out. i rememberd that steff had a plastic sheet that was held in place with....poppers? thought that was a fairley good comprimise to the whole thing. i now have black snot and are coughing alot, i was whearing a respitator all day so i dont understand this, although i did have a mcdonalds earleyer so that may have something to do with it :lol:
