I think Lee hit the nail on the head so to speak-red cars tend to turn into pink patchy cars. Seriously i know it's long distance but thers some real bargains around me at the moment and in all colours,i hliterally last night bought my daughter a Focus 1.8 zetec in BLUE,90 thousand mile on a V plate for £1100 and it's tested till Oct 09 and taxed till Mar 09.

you dont see many red cars about these days they are usually silver or a basic colour like blue green or black.

rep cars are usually the cheapest model like white or silver (which is why you know reps are in our car park a few years ago as it was a sea of white astras! )

these days grey is the new colour of choice or metallic silver to be exact.

there are few round me that have gone dull and patchy which is why i think it put her off having a red car, and another thing thats narked me i have phoned up 4 or 5 in the last week with new mot,s but no tax  so i cant really test drive them sensibly or any distance, do people not think of this? one bloke told me if you buy it you can tax it so i said if you tax it i will come and test drive it i,m not buying without a good test drive as it needs to be right anyway it was red

I have a red rover 620i and it has done 230k and very reliable, a heck of alot better than the disco is for every day driving and motorways and had the rovver for over 9 years now.

The landys I have had and all been green and all been unreliable. That could just be due to the fact they are land rovers!!

Crikey, that's pretty specific.  I'd agree FIesta, not a fan of Coarser but they are easy to own.  Only thing, the 2 extra doors were £500 extra, not sure how many you'll find for that budget but you should be looking at a smiley fiesta, there are plenty about and round here they are all silver and blue.

red cars are apparently less likely to be involved in accidents as they are more visible, whereas green cars are more likely to be involved in prangs as they blend in more. That or they are the colour of the 'Little People' who see the use of their colour as an insult, and therefore 'hex' all green car owners. 8-[

My one and only red car, a VW Golf Mk3, lasted just two months before being T-boned at 50mph by an insurance salesman in a silver Toyota MR2 (I've never liked those!). I've still got the injuries now.  :x

All my cars (excepy my current one- my Freelander) have been hit by other drivers - that's 4 in 10 years. They were white (written-off), dark red (written off), dark grey and light  blue.

Why is it that the people who drive around in mist, fog and heavy rain without lights all have silver cars? Is it to make sure you can't see them?
Some say that this is just a random collection of letters, and that it can only be
understood by Top Gear's tame racing driver. All we know is, it's called The Sig.

I find wearing a hi vis jacket makes me a moving target for people. closest anyone has got to me was when I was a postie and thier wing mirror skimmed the back of my hi vis. That was a brown trouser moment!

red cars are unlucky !

I have had 2, well actually one, the other was belonged to my brother in law (he owned it for 1 day) before I crashed it and wrote it off - ooops

I even managed to crash my last Disco that was also red into the back of another car

Now I stick to black vehicles - so far they have remained in one peice
Moved over to the dark side - Suzuki's !

With that I would concur. I was at a 3 car prang on the A3M a couple of weeks ago. It was dark, all three services were in attendance, so there were lots of lights and folk in Hi Viz clothing, but we still had jokers slowing down, driving through the cone barriers in an effort to get through the RTA scene, before meeting a very angry LSP, telling them to "Get the 'F' out of my accident scene, you myopic murderous moron!"
All colours of cars are safe. Its when you put idiots behind the steering wheel, that it becomes a problem.

Charcoal grey is my unlucky colour, my 416 was a beauty until it started to cough and splutter every time I tried to pull off after the engine had warmed...

Turned out that my induction kit was a [!Expletive Deleted!] for "heat soak" basically it pulls hot air in instead, thus sapping the power, took it off and reverted back to the original airbox, and it ran sweet as a nut for 2 weeks then at a set of traffic lights one of my passengers (ex's brother!) says to me "whoa, your temp gauge has gone right up!" looked at it and it was almost overheating. So I went over the road on green couldn't find a parking space so drove nearly a mile then it finally erupted in a cloud of steam...

First thing I was thinking was head gasket...nope took me 2 days and about £20 on public transport to figure out that the overheating was caused by a 20p fuse that had blown for the fan! so she was back on the road and I was as happy as larry for about 3 weeks, then outside my mate's house just popped round for a cuppa and a chat and all i hear was screeching and then a smash...turns out someone had managed to scrape their motor down the side of mine and take the wing mirror and a bit of the trim with them, without even so much as leaving a note to say sorry!

Replaced the wing mirror then about a week later someone reversed out of the petrol station at Asda without bothering looking and smashed full pelt into mine rendering it a write-off.

And then a mate from another forum offered me the old shape Rover 218 SLD in the exact same colour for £80 as it was nearly out of MOT (about 2 months left on it) and I loved it for a while...and then whilst on a routine trip to the shops with my ex, her brother and his wife I came out of Tesco was promptly surrounded by 5 coppers pulled out of the car and handcuffed I was wondering what all of it was about...turns out that I had stolen the car 20 minutes earlier "No officer I bought the car 3 weeks ago the new log book and my details including license is in the glove box" so off he goes and spots that I'm telling the truth so he radios through to get the details through again...turns out he mis-read my numberplate which was M488 OOX for a car with the numberplate M408 DDX!!!

In short I was pulled 8 times in 3 months in the 416, 3 times in a week in the 218 and they were both the same colour, my dad borrowed me the Discovery (which was his at the time) which is blue, I was driving it for weeks and wasn't pulled once even though the Disco had bits hanging off it here there and everywhere...including the exhaust!
200TDi Discovery
+2" Bearmach blue springs, +2" ProComp ES9000 Shocks, 31x10.50R16 Colway MT's, Heavy Duty steering arms, Safari snorkel, Midland CB radio, Extended bump stops, fully chequer plated rear.

Soon to have:
Full length roof rack, more lights than you can shake a stick at, +2" spacers, 2" lowered twin shock turrets, dislocation cones all round, Heavy duty bumpers. Possibly bigger tyres (Much bigger!!!) and more than likely body lifts etc.
