field mice

hi all seem to have a prob with feild mice in me loft. Went an brought a plug in doobry from scats "bloody expensive". Been in for over two weeks no an it doesnt ceem to work. Any ideas other than hand granades or shotgun traps.?!

try a humane mouse trap and chocolate / peanut butter / something which smells sweet

Then take them a fair distance away and let them go,  Neil chose about 60 miles as the optimum distance.

umm 60miles. That wouldnt help as i live about 600yards from a farm. But its the first time in 22 years we had a problem.

When I was a gamekeeper we used Mk 4 Fenn Traps for Rats, but we often found Mice in them,  they were baited with either wheat or chocolate.  Just remember to take the safety catch off!!!

Ultrasonic rodent repellers are a con, to be brutally honest. They've never been proven to work and just annoy those of us who can hear them as a very high-pitched whine.

We use normal traps baited with raisins, which mice seem to like and which tend to stay fresh enough to attract mouse attention for a long time.

Be careful as I think field mice are a protected species and you may need a permit to get rid of them, like bats you need a permit or licensed persons to remove them or something silly like that.

I like the glue traps ....

just like fly paper you just lie sheets against the walls (they like going around the edges of rooms not the middle) then when they run over the sheet they get stuck...

If they are still alive you just wet the paper and they come unstuck apparently ....

There's one snag with those glue things - you may find yourself dealing with an angry rat!

I've cleared out about 30 of the little......things......out of our stone barn in the last month or so.

We use poison traps: they eat the food and die: problem solved.

Get a good pest control firm to bait your house up they should be able to sort out your mice in 3 vists.
My dad has his own pest contorl firm and said its dorr mice thet are protected.
His cost for baiting up a house and clearing up a mouse problem is £80+ vat,don't ring rentakill there a rip off .
Get a local small firm there much better and cost less.

I would not use poison for two reasons. One, it's inhumane. They may be vermin but they don't deserve a slow painful death. Two, after taking the bait they will invariably crawl away under the floorboards to die, producing the most appalling smell!

We had this at work and ended up with 30ish dead mice / rats in the ceiling festering away. A complete new ceiling was needed as there was no human access to the other side of it. Glad I wasnt the one taking the old ceiling down from underneath!! Raining rats and mice. ewww :->
