asda
« on: December 06, 2008, 20:53:30 »
went to asda today and the wife had to use her electric wheelchair
wot a nightmare she had two people climb over her as if she was not there and have another person jump over her legs
and then could not get up the isle cos of the cages that they restock the shelfs with
then they have done away with the signs that tell you where the extra wide isles are as they are not in sight as they are now on the end of the counter and not in view

I get people trying to walk straight through me all the time, and I'm able-bodied (also a shade under 6ft and built like a Rugby player). I think it's just a case of there being some antisocial morons out there who are too arrogant to recognise the right of the rest of the world to exist!

I must admit that I get that as well, but I walk with a stick (smashed my knee 6 years ago) so I tend to use it to stick between the ignorant sods legs so they trip over!! Funny as heck!!

Another bad day shopping. Me and the wife had to go into Brighton for a few bits. We had the usual thoughtless people zig zagging and stopping dead in front of her electric wheelchair, but the next one is a cracker.
We went into Woolies to grab a few bargains and it went reasonably well until we had to queue up to pay. There were 4 women with kids in pushchairs behind us and an Asian man around 60 with an English wife behind them. When we did get to the till my wife turned round in her chair to ask the people behind her to back up a little and she would get out of their way. Now my wife was expecting it to be one of the women with the buggies  but low and behold it was the Asian man with his wife. She said to him sorry sir but I'm in the way, if you back up a little I will get out of your way so you can get to the till more easily when your turn comes. The <edit> started shouting at my wife to move the Bloo*y thing out of his way now and started to push his way through, when he couldn't get through he booted the back wheel on the wheelchair shouting again to get it out of his way. My wife being an ex publican Scot and not at all shy, started roaring at him, Who do you think you are speaking to me like that and how dare he discriminate against the disabled in this way.He must have absolutely <edit> himself cos he took to his heels and told the staff his wife would pay. However the Irn Bru mist descended on my wife and she took off after him and boxed him in near the door shouting at him all the way. The whole of Woolies stopped dead and you could have heard a pin drop if it wasn't for the wife roaring at him. By the time I caught up he had done a runner, but the wife was still furious. The moral of this story is Don't mess with a Scottish cripple. Oh well another great day.

I'm disgusted but sadly not surprised.  My dad used a wheelchair during his last few years and my wife was in one last year due to the ME, people aren't quite so rude as it's powered by a 6'2" grizzlie bear impersonator, but they can still be damned thoughtless.

As for adsa, well it's part of walmart now so just be gratefull no boxs have topled onto your head.  Do what I do and go to Tesco, the staff at our local one are a lot better trained and glad to help.

When my missus was about 8 month pregnant a bloke in Tesco deliberately swung his trolley into her belly doubling her up in pain. Git.... mind you he had to pick himself off the floor cos I was stood next to her.

I do wonder if there's a knock-on effect. Wally world (as they're apparently known in the US) frequently attract the wrong sort of attention for things like reportedly sacking workers for joining or forming a union. If their UK management has similar attitudes then it will filter down, eventually getting to the stage where the staff are obnoxious to the customers who in turn are obnoxious to each other.
