Having been there a few times and a couple of times with the intent of supporting charitable causes I'm sceptical about aid reaching where its needed in Africa especially when money is donated.
South Africa has been struggling to provide Anti-retro-virals to deal with the onset of HIV for years.
Now its available the silly ******s are smoking the drugs instead
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/7768059.stmHaving visited a school in Gambia supported by well meaning charitable donations I was shown the newly built toilet block for the school.
This had been built with no attention paid to the fact the school had no running water and no connection to a sewer.
But now the toilet block was complete the old outhouse urgently needed funds to convert it to a library........
I will avoid pampers and any other brand thats offering to save Africa on my behalf because I can guess the success rate of such projects.
