1976 Series 3 2 1/4 petrol. Front spring hanger problem.
« on: December 18, 2008, 07:32:27 »
Hi all, my brother has a a 88" series 3 in Australia & i have just fitted a set of Britpart Parabolics to it. The rears went on fine & so did the fronts, all with Goodridge hoses & Pro Comp shocks. Only one problem. The front spring hanger is rubbing on the spring when going over a bump.

Has anyone come across this problem before? If so have you got a solution other than grinding the top of the spring or using military hangers.  All work will be carried out by me so technical solutions are welcome  :D

Cheers in Advance

Dan.

Hi Dan, where exactly is it rubbing? at the very front where springs join to the dumb iron? one of my rocky mountain paras rubs there as the top bit of spring is too high-i just ignore and keep white greased-will grind down sometime maybe.
this what u mean?

Hi Duncan, yep you have hit the nail on the head thats where they are rubbing, i will get the white grease out this week & give them a good squirt. Glad it's not just the Britpart ones that are rubbing, my brother thought he had a dodgy set. Cheers for that.

Chances are they won't be spectacularly good in the long run.  Britpart doesn't enjoy the best of reputations when it comes to quality control...

Yep i think my brother has found that out Rich, he has sent 2 emails to them with pictures & as yet (this was before christmas) no reply at all, for now though i have used white grease but i think the grinder will be coming out to play

I will get some pictures up of it soon.
