vitara front diff
« on: December 20, 2008, 20:29:12 »
i have recently changed the front axle on the vit to a samuari live axle, in doing so i changed the ring and pinion for the vit one in order to keep the ratio the same as the rear, however, apparantly, on its test drive there was a grinding noise in forward drive which quickly became worse, it was driven straight back to the ramps to diagnose the problem and we found that the front wheels would travel in forward motion but in reverse the would go no where, stuck solid,

any ideas ?

thanks,  chris.

Thanks for your reply but i took the diff out to see if it could be turned manually, still no luck, i will however have a look at the casing of the axle to see if i can see any scraping marks from the diff, thanks again and have a good Christmas.
