The problem is caused by the knob on the mouse!

You might want to check the settings for the internet service, it might have reconfigured your connection to go to another server.  Are you on dial-up? if so I'll bet it's an expensive call

Can I have a bit more info about your set up and I'll have a go for you.  Could do with knowing what operating system you are using (i.e. XP Home), what Anti Virus you are using (i.e. Norton) and what Trojan it claims you have been infected by.

Should be pretty easy to sort.  What also may be worth a try (and is often overlooked and underated) is the System Restore facility within the Help and Support Centre - you could try using this tool to revert the computer back to a point in time before the problem started.

There are a coulpe of usefull programs you may want to download and run, CCleaner (www.ccleaner.com) and Adaware (www.lavasoft.com).  One nasty little sideaffect of viral infections is the bits left behind that the AV's don't pick up.

Good luck and any problems try a big hammer, it works on the Landrover.

Don't be tempted to run 2 bits of AV software at the same time, it makes things worse!

aol is broadband and appears to work correctly apart from it connecting itself to internet unless i pull the plug?

The self-connecting part would suggest to me that there is a trojan of some sort in residence - they tend to phone home and will be trying to ensure they have an internet connection to do so.

Do you want me to have a look?

Its up to you...

If you do, run this and PM me the ID and password - It will only work once, and is very secure. I use it at work (Fujifilm UK)
