An open letter to the Micra owner at the lights earlier
« on: March 04, 2005, 21:05:53 »
Dear Micra owner,

I would like to take this opportunity to inform you in slightly more depth about the manner in which traffic lights operate.

Traffic lights sense traffic waiting through an induction loop mounted in the road surface near to the stop line.  Therefore, your earlier behaviour of pulling up a good 30 yards short of where the loop would have been did not help the amount of time it took me to get home from work this evening.

I am aware that you probably thought of me as a typical 4x4 driver when I overtook you as you sat waiting patiently, but I draw your attention to the fact that the lights changed within seconds of me pulling up to the stop line.

Please also note that this has lead to me consuming this nice cold beer somewhat later than I was planning to.

Thank you.

Yours, the annoyed looking beardy chap in the Discovery.

(also on behalf of the equally annoyed looking white van man behind me)

Im Supprised you found someone stopped at a red light

I'v been working in North London for the last month and stopping at a red light would seem to be optional even for busses

Always remember coming back from Tixover (Mud-club day) in two wheel drive (after breaking the front halfshaft)...

One one of the dual carrigeways on the way back, we were next to some barry (chav) in his D reg nissan mirca, complete with Max Power stickers down the door and a 'big bore' tailpipe trim.

He sat there, reving his little motor at the lights...

As the lights changed, he wheel spins away... I pull a away a bit slower (can't do a full on launch as I blow my rear diff - though when you did my 200Tdi was blinkin quick off the mark for a Landy!!)...

As soon as we are moving we go hoofin past him... (not that I was racing in any way officer   )....

The look on his face was a picture.... a muddy land rover leaving him for dead  :D  :D  as he tries to catch up.

Got up to the legal limit, and backed off... as he got bit closer... I just put my foot down and pulled away again  :D  :D

His girlfriend didn't look too pleased either... shame as she was quite good looking!!... (unless my girlfriends reading this then she was a dog!!!)

Can't wait to my 90's back in one piece... with another an even more tweaked diesel  :D  :D

I am sure she was a dog!

Wish I had seen it, just my sort of thing.

While we are on the subject of annoying drivers - why oh why do some stop at roundabouts, when nothing is coming???????
Jules

Have wellies, get muddy ;-)
