Freeview recording ?
« on: January 02, 2009, 20:05:18 »
Hoping that there is someone on here that has a better grasp of Freeview than I do.

If I buy a DVD/HDD recorder with a freeview box built in and I already have a TV with Freeview, will I be able to record a Freeview program whilst watching another one on the tv ??

Yes - providing that the device you buy has dual Freeview receivers........I heard somewhere that you can now get a Freeview box/recorder with 3 receivers, so you can record two different channels, whilst watching a third !

Yes you will as the Freeview tuner in the DVD/HDD recorder works independantly from the Freeview Tuner in the TV.

Be careful, a lot are advertised as twim tuner but you can only record freeview and watch analogue.  I've got 3 now and they all work very differently, check out the timeshift function as that's what you'll use most.  My Phillips is best at this and the SONY is rubbish, shame as the Phillips is broken (why I have 3).

If you buy one with a DVD burner you can archive anything you want to keep.
