Do P38 alloys fit a Disco 2?
« on: January 04, 2009, 12:08:50 »
As above, someone has offered me some wheels but they are from a RR P38 and i'm not sure if they will fit my 2000 TD5.
Does anyone know if they will?

Hi there, yes P38 rims will fit a disco 2 as long as you used the correct wheel nuts,

Not sure, but I have seen adapter rings mentioned? Suggestion seemed to be that they would fit, but needed these rings to enable you to tighten them up properly.

Ok, a little digging has found these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SPIGOT-RINGS-location-RANGE-ROVER-P38-alloy-wheels_W0QQitemZ300266325947QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_3?hash=item300266325947&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A2|240%3A1318

I think it's saying that you don't need them to put P38 wheels on a Disco 2, but are used to fit later wheels to those two vehicles.

Knowing trhe BMW mentalisty it's very possible either could be true.  they forced LR to use the BMW spacing pattern even though it never stayed standard on their own cars, I reckon they do it to prevent you fitting newer wheesl to an older car.

The P38 and the D2 share the same stud pattern - the wheels can be willy-nilly swapped between the 2 vehicles.  The wheelnuts are also the same.

The 'spigot rings' become necessary should you wish to fit D3, L322 or Sport rims onto a D2 or P38.  In this event, a new set of wheelnuts will also be required ...
