Tyre advice for a Newbie - thanks in advance

Hello everyone

Well I've not actually touched my series 3 yet (it's in Norfolk with the girlfriends Dad) however I have all the bits to get it going now.

I have been offered a set of KING PIN 205/16 Mud tyres, can anyone tell me if this size will be ok on the series 3 SWB?

Noddy wheels.

They'll fit, and aren't too different to the standard 6.00x16, but they're smaaaall.  Don't go in rutted tracks much or you'll be sat on the axles with all four wheels off the ground.  :lol:  If you can, go for 7.50x16 or 7.50r16 or even 235/85r16.

It depends what you want to do with your series. The reality is that the 7.50 (235/85x16) will give you about 3.5cm extra height under the diff over (the 205x16)

Smaller circumference tyres give better acceleration, higher circumference potentially give a higher top speed. If you're doing lots of motorway/A road cruising the 7.50 will provide a higher top speed or better economy. If you doing mild lanes/town work then the 6.00 may be more useful. Quicker off the mark and will give a bit more grunt at low speed.

It'll mainly be my shooting motor, muddy fields really, lots of B roads etc.

I'll go for the 205 first off then upgrade to 750's when I bring her up to derbyshire.

Go for 750's. I ran 205's for a while, the 750's gve you more height and look a damn site better too.  If you're going to fit 205's you'll need LWB rims anyway as they're too wide to fit on standard SWB rims.
