What a wasted weekend
« on: January 11, 2009, 14:33:17 »

I'm, trying to swap my O3 plate Vectra for a Disco, easy You would have thought but o no.

The first we go and see was a nice gas converted V8, Would'nt start, flat battery ses the dealer getting the jump leads out. Clounds of smoke when it started turned out there is no antifreeze in it and the water pump is solid. Pull the dipstick and the oil is a lovely milky coloue.

The second looked great till you get to the wheelarches and innerwings, more rust than metal, then all he offers me for the car is £1600, I don't think so.

How much is the tax on the Vectra?

I think you might be better off looking proivately for a good Disco, lots of people are getting rid because fo the tax and insurance on top of the fuel costs, the only dealers I know of who have them in sort of got lumbered with them, none are buying tjem for stock because they depreciate weekly.

So as you have found they are trouble with wheels on.

You might be better off with a private sale on the Vectra too :-k

The Vectra tax was £93.50 for 6 months.

Your right about buying private. After spending the weekend driving miles looking at junk I've found a mint 1997 300tdi  with only 73000 miles on the clock thats just up the road. Good old ebay
