Difflock evo synthetic oils - worth the extra?
« on: January 23, 2009, 09:09:24 »
Morning ,
I'm about to do a 96,000 service on my TD5 90 and wondered what peoples thoughts were on the difflock evo range of gear oils , and whether they were worth the extra?

Cheers

Darren

My 110 is running Difflock oils through out the drive line.  Seems nice and smooth and the noise levels seem a bit quieter, or maybe I am just trying to justify the out lay.

I think so. Running Difflock oils in Gbox and Tbox, but not diffs. A bit smoother, perhaps, but not a huge difference. But also bear in mind that Difflock say they last twice as long (You are a fellow Yorkshire ex-pat, right?) and give better protection etc, so worth doing I reckon

I didn't go for Difflock in the diffs. Sticking to standard stuff and changing more frequently in case they get water contaminated - Not that I do a lot of deep wading in the Td5, but diffs are a piece of cake to change too.
90 300tdi Hardtop. One or two teeny weeny mods. Not fast!
110 Td5 H/top. IRB  i/cooler amongst other things. Not slow!
