keeps dropping the revs and cutting out
« on: January 27, 2009, 09:44:58 »
right then. i went to a p&p on sunday in a 200tdi. i got going through some deep muddy puddles and it went through em pretty easy. it wasnt deep enough to go in the air intake but i did hit pretty fast an it may of gone into it then.

anyway, any one got any ideas why its doing what its doing. another thing its doing is when the revs drop and i rev it up the revs take a long time to build up, its as if im not even revving it up. :help: :help: :help:

Sounds like a fuel filter blockage to me.

Ive had the same symptoms before but mine ended up been perished fuel pipes on top of the fuel tank, it was sucking air in .maybe you have dislodged your fuel line somewhere

Check the pipe from the intercooler when you rev the engine.

If the pipe is being sucked in you're suffering from air starvation.

disconnect the pipe & see how it revs.

happened to me last weekend. I think the intercooler need a major cleanout.

Are you getting any abnormal smoke

Take the top off the high lift pump, see if the mesh filter is blocked, I had the same problem, cleaned it and it all worked. Check the seals aswell on the pump.

you might be onto sumat there. i had a mess with the fuel bleed valve on the filter and theres a sh*t load of air in it. it'll run fine when its undone and squirting fuel everywhere  8-[ 8-[ but cuts out when its tightened.
