« on: January 30, 2009, 13:38:32 »
Hi i am having problems with wheel spacers on my disco they are 30mm thick when i put one  on the car it seems to me that the new wheel position  which is i think about 2cm round from it's normal position wont allow me to fit the wheel back on because it hits the nuts on the end of Axel and not Aline properly has any one had the same thing happen to them i have explained this to the guy i bought the spacer from and he tells me that he has sold hundred of them and not had any problems fitting wheel spacer the wheels on my car are alloy free style type which have been on from new when i bought it back in 1997 any ideas as far as i can see the wheel should move out by 30mm and have no problem!
thanks martin

are you using the nuts that came with the spacers to bolt the spacers to the hub? cos the ones for the wheels may be too deep, causing your problem.

I think I know what your problem is.

Is the wheel fouling on the hub flange bolt heads? It sounds like it to me.

When I bought my spacers, they came with a full set of allen cap bolts to replace the existing flange bolts. These have smaller heads and provide more clearance. I didn't need to use them, I think it depends on the particular type of alloy wheel you are using.

I still have them in a bag in my workshop, if you get no joy from the seller, PM me and we can sort something out.

Without wanting to hijack this thread, my spacers are now for sale. TUV approved 30mm billet alloy spacers for Disco 1/defender/rrc axles from Scrapiron racing. Very good quality, much better than ebay stuff.
Anyone can feel free to PM me an offer if interested, as a guide to prices, look at what spacers cost on ebay.
