Disco 300tdi not running right
« on: February 03, 2009, 11:29:31 »
Was driving along no probs, after about 15 miles the engine feels like its running on 3 cylinders. Alls ok until I put it under load about 1500 revs, I have changed the fuel and air filters and its still playing up.  :-k :-k

Any ideas would be welcome :?

Have you cleaned the fuel sedimentor, it's worth a try.

If you think its fuel related you could have  a dodgy injector or a fuel pump on its way out. Lots of people experience a drop in performance at higher revs before the pump goes for good.
Bearmach pumps are a good replacement and are only £30 or so. Not heard anything good at all about the Britpart pumps sold by Paddocks.

Does the engine just loose or lack power or does it get "lumpy" as if one cylinder isn't firing?

As it's around 1500 rpm that the turbo starts to take effect; can you hear/feel the turbo running?
Maybe check the turbo & intercooler hoses, inside & out, for delamination & splits.
Also check the spindle from the turbo to the wastegate on the exaust manifold and make sure that the 'C' clip is still in place, I had mine fall off and it left me with no turbo boost at all.
