Help needed!

HI all, asking on behalf of the hubby whos outside as i speak trying to find out what the problem is with his DISCOVERY!

Basically went to go out , car unlocked fine put key in ignition and nothing wont take the steering lock off at all, any ideas anyone please?

Hiya , yes they key is bent a little but no more than it usually is.
Well dont ask me how but he has sorted it for now thank god..... thanks for your reply!

hi, mines the same, i think the problem might be the key itself, as they wear down it doesn't quite unlock the steering mechanism properly, have you any other keys youcould try?

You can buy blank keys on ebay for Discos, I did that then managed to talk the local Ironmongers into cutting them for me.

I did this after attempting to use my old key to release a locking tab and bending it horribly. It did straighten out but I felt it best to replace it!

well we are gonna get a key cut for it as it is our only key to it.
Luckily we can still get about in the mean time thank god!

We had this problem with a Disco 2. Started  by key not turning intermittently & failed completely shortly after we sold car. The problem was the ignition barrel. When the new owner had it taken to main dealer there was a 4 month wait for new part so they supplied him with a Disco 3 at their cost even though his vehicle was out of warranty. You can't fault that for service from a main dealer.

i think ignition barrel probs aint un heard of . my 300 was very tempremental when i 1st had it . but a sqiurt of triflow, like a ptfe based wd40, and its still o.k now..
