we have a mouse problem in the garage so i have set a trap, the traditional type with the big spring that squishes the mouse :twisted:
so i set the the bait(sweetcorn) on the trap but dont set it..the mouse takes the bait all good so far :D then i reset the bait and this time set the trap, next morning the trap is still set but no bait :-k crafty little so and so, well try again, reset the trap this time get dry sweetcorn from the hamster food and push it on hard so it wont come off so easily...next morning trap still set but no bait and the mouse has pooed on the trap just to taunt me now [-X
so rebait and reset last nite, check the trap this morning no mouse :roll: and no trap :shock: so where,s the flippin trap gone then :?

do you not mean "mice"??? :lol: chocolate works well as bait and so does peanut butter....or that might be rats....BUT what does work is soaking oats/grain in hydraulic oil or antifreeze

I second the chocolate and peanut butter, it works well with my rat trap.

The trap may be attached to the tail of the mouse, have a look round the garage.

i,ve looked everywhere in the garage and not found the trap yet the search continues

what does soaking oats in oil do?

I think they eat the oats and it poisons them.

The good thing with peanut butter is that they have to be on it to lick it off

Get the type that electricutes them. It has two metal plates in the bottom. As soon as they touch both. Bang. Cardiac arrest.

And no more mice's. :)

Sorry to sound like a bit of a 'greeny' on this one folks, but try to avoid using poison, as it can lead to the death of non target species, e.g, mousey gets a gutfull, goes outside, draws its terminal breath and then gets eaten by dogs, cats or birds of prey, exit household pets or endangered species.

I use a humane trap and I find it far more effective at catching them.

I can report considerable success with raisins on old-school mousetraps. They do need to be properly attached but won't go off.

Another problem with poison is that the mouse/rat will invariably crawl somewhere inaccessible to die, then stink the place out!

Raisins work great you can put a needle through them with some thread and tie them to the firing pin on the trap...

then put a bit of string around the trap and tie it to something to stop them wondering off :lol:

well found the trap after hunting about some more mouse had got caught and run off round the back of some cupboards then snuffed it trap reset with a raisen now to see if any more are out there

We had a issue where the cats had brought mice in and they where living in our eves, some nice modern plastic trap brought cause cheapest, mega sensitive but I thought it wouldn't be powerful enough, how wrong was I first one (big [!Expletive Deleted!]) snapped shut when we where in bed, didn't quite kill it, so I lobbed it onto the roof, seconds later an owl took it and the trap, found the remains a few days later in the garden, second mouse the trap snapped it's neck clean in two :twisted: worked a treat, I had baited with a raisen as they can smell it for "miles".

Air gun is fun if outside but the [!Expletive Deleted!] are quick so I like the idea of a thread and a raisen keep the [!Expletive Deleted!] on a line while I shoot ;) he he he...

Bought 4 cheapo sonic rodent deterents of the bay and put 1 in garage and had no more signs of them for about 4 weeks now.

Hi beast5680 if you know anyone with Terriers pref Jack Russell's get the dog/s into the garage as they'll sniff out any mice & the main prob the nest because as soon as mammy mouse has her babies she will often be carrying the next batch so the prob will keep on & get bigger :doh:

My mother in law uses humane traps! Then, when full, she puts them into a bucket of water to drown????

i use the rentokil proffessional traps. (they are the dogs knees)!with kit kat on it!works all the time!

i do own a jack russel, but as a mouse hunter :-k i think he would c£*p himself if one actually got near him but he has been sniffing round the flower trough outside so i put the trap down next to it and hey presto dead mouse :dance:
