Hi Guys,
I've had a bit of a mare of late, I have a 2000 discovery 4.0L V8, and had loads of probs. It started off about 4 weeks ago with, all of a sudden loads of steam coming out of the exhaust. We checked the oil to find it had slightly emulsified. This was put down to a head gasket (possibly prematurely due to inexperience!!!!). Both head gaskets were duely replaced to find nothing any different, apart from the fact i had gained a metalic tapping from the engine!!! Joy!!! At this stage proper advice was sought and the car ws delivered to Andys Landys in Coventry. A couple of days later the dreaded call arrived saying that the tapping was from the PAS pump having given up the ghost, but worse still the steam was being caused by a cracked piston liner!!! I'm now at the stage of needing a new short engine, or just to keep it simple a second hand 4.0L V8 to swap over, only these are seemingly hard to come by!
So questions, whats the best way around this? does any body know of anyone with a "spare" 4.0L V8? Does any one have any other ideas? And most of all why is this happening when we have all of this snow to play in!!!!! :'( :'( :'(
Cheers, Paul.
