Its not like its even a particularly good car to start with, I could almost understand some of that being done to a classic, that is actually going to worth real money in the future, but an Astra? Its just a poxy Astra.

Well done whoever you are, you have a very clean Astra, that looks like you have had an accident involving the 'Ripspeed' (see: Useless tat) stand at Halfords. Its not as if VXR is even a real tuning arm- they aren't even in the same ballpark the BMW M// division, AAchen Schnitzer, Brabus, Carlsson, HF etc etc.

If someone has STEVOV8i's address they ought to forward this to him, they might get on really well, they both seem to like pointless tat and presumably lack social interaction skills?

I think he was still washing it in what looked like shaving foam when my brain started to melt and I gave up. What the hell is Reverse Osmosis water anyway (Please don't answer that, you will be mistaking me for someone who gives a monkey's).

I took a leaf out of his book tonight...

first I prepared the car by lifting the windscreen wipers forward. I then purchased the cheapest jetwash token the garage had.

using the foaming brush I moved around the truck , unfortunatly I spent a bit too long on the bird turd on the drivers window so the passenger side only got a quick swipe then a rince followed by a blow dry .( I drove home)

I can however report that I can now see out of the front and rear windows and just about see out the drivers window ( seaguls must eat some really greasy food

)

Has anyone taken a Land Rover and done the bling thing? Lowered suspension, bit alloy wheels, drain pipe exhaust, in-car entertainment and all that nonsense?

Would be an interesting project for "Ponce my Ride". Needs to be a Defender for extra sillyness :)

There was actually a pimp my ride episode where they had a RRC, though I've not seen the result.

Theres certainly been a few defenders that have been tarted up.

Some of the guys in the Jag forum are into detailing. This is partly because they have damn nice cars, but also partly because a lot of them are seriously minted, so don't flinch from paying some guy several hundred quid to spend 3 days cleaning their car.

Anal it may be, but I have to hand it to them - their cars look absolutely mint, much better than they did when they came out of the factory. The attention to detail is impressive (albeit not quite so bad as the Astra guy). You can get an idea of the sort of result they get here. I'd have to say it's much more impressive on an older car with all the scratches & swirls in the paintwork than it is in one that's pretty good to start with.

And having spent about 6 hours yesterday and today cleaning and polishing the Disco, and reminding myself how much effort I had to put in just to clean it to a fairly mediocre standard, I don't mind admitting that if I won the lottery I'd book www.obsessivecardetailing.co.uk to come and do all 3 of ours.

I painted my newly fitted sills/sliders today in Hammerite.

Think i might get him to take a look as i did end up with a small paint blob..............................................................a few brush stokes, bristles, dust , fingerprints, flies, cat hair etc.

I think you have to get past the idea that this is a car. As far as he is concerned it is art and trying to compare it to your Disco/RRC/90/110 is pointless. I think that the owner would relate more closely to that chap who does sculpture in the eye of a needle than to me with my Rover.

p.s. I would love to park my Rover precisely one metre from that VXR and then do time lapse photography for a day or two - I reckon its possible to catch the migration of the rust on tape since no decent self-respecting bit of Fe₂O₃ could possibly resist a target like that :lol:

I was a valeter & smart repairer for years so I'm somebody with an attention to detail who used to pride myself in doing a good job to a customers car or my own for that matter but what planet is he living on? Polishing hinges with a cotton bud, waxing his suspension springs well the list goes on, I still can't believe there is people that crazy out there.

If it was a £120,000 Bentley then you could understand why he wants to take care of his paintwork with some good quality wax etc but even so you have to drive it & it will get dirty.

God forbid a fly craps on it, he was on about fitting an anti roll bar to help it corner at speed...................& when it flicks a stone up whats he going to do, sue the council for damages?

My God this guy needs to get real!
