think i might have a problem . . .

 started doing the service on the truck today . got 1 fuel filter on cant get the rear 1 off . aint guna attempt the belts yet think i might get my brother to give me a hand lol . so went on the do the glow plugs . . . .  :-k


 1st plug came out fine so swapped that over tightened it up . 2nd hmmmmmm problems now looks like the end heated element bit has snapped off so is still sitting inside the engine . . . ahhhhhhh any ideas how i can get that out . in total 2 have done this and 2 are fine . .

 any suggestions people

its a head off jobby im afraid  then you should be able to push them out with a bit of force just watch the head for signes of cracking
As a youth I could run up and down stairs all day now I'm older it takes me all day just to walk upstairs

you may be able to smack a Torx allen key on to them and wind them out, have had to do that on 2.5 NA / TD defenders before, but never had a problem on a 200TDi

 well i needed to service it and as its hasnt moved in 8 months i thought i may as well change them aswell plus didnt know when they where last done .

MIne has never had them changed and they are not wired up so no need to do them really

I thought all 200's were like that and did not need them to start

Mine will start first turn of the key like a petrol car in all weathers

Even in the snow and freezing weather we just had

its not been on the road for about 10mths and will start no worries

thats why i asked why you changed them

 i think you got merlins truck lol pure magic not wired and works ? ? wish i never changed them now hearing they dont actually needed to be changed lol oh well at least it should last a while now lol

Mine starts first kick every time even in cold weather too  :-k :-k

I've never let the heater plugs go to the end of the cycle , I just stick the key in and turn .....

I do let it idle for 15,20 seconds before driving off though  :D

Do you think merlin made two  :lol: :lol: :lol:

 now have a new problem lol
 
 
 the head is now off and is fine thank god lol but i cant get the glow plug elements out there well and truely stuck in there . any ideas people . . was hopeing to get it all back together before night fall lol

I've had them snappedoff in a 300 TDi too, totoal PITA.

 well got it all done today soaked the broken elements inside the head with some diesel over nite and got a hammer and screwdriver gave em a hard tap a couple of times luckly they poped out lol . . so 1 hour later all the engine is back together . . tell u what im never ever guna do that again  [-X

shame sorry just read your problems ive had this prob many times on customers landys and cars etc, every times this has worked for me put the rest of glow plugs back in engine and just start it up and leave it running normally within 30 mins the heat = pressure etc blows the tips out
just get muddy

No, you're going to do it properly at the correct interval so they don't get seized in the engine ;)
