Ply lining a 110... / sleeping in a landy!

Has anyone done a decent job of lining a 110?  I want to sleep in it (not every night of course, just occasionaly ;) ) and would like to insulate it a bit and remove the every 5 second drips from the condensation on the roof. 

I was thinking or ply lining with some kind of insulation and then cheap cord type carpet over the top of the ply.  Anyone done anything similar?  It doesnt look like the easiest thing to line :(

Any occasional type camper conversion on here who could send me some pics?

Wow, that looks like a nice job!  Did you insulate it?  I noticed you avoided the ribs on the roof, I assumed I would need to screw ply to that!  Can you tell me how you did it and what stuf you used? 

What are those cupboard / unit things made from?

A friend bought some foam camp sleep mats when there was an out of season sale on and lined the roof in those, stuck on with contact bostik, seems happy with it.
I'm 6foot4 and found sleeping in the load bay of a 110 van horrid, could not stretch out legs fully.

i ve made my 90 into a bed made some steel supports for the back section that just click into place cut some board into clever shapes that stow away on the side and once its all together it goes over the front seats reclined and i am 6 2 in height and have a lovly night sleep

I bought some sound proofing felt-type stuff from the local motor factors. Stuck it to the sides and roof with evostik (did it in the summer, so everything was dry inside - and the heat made the stink of the evostik even better  ).

I then cut polystyrene sheet (25mm thick from Wickes) to fit the side panels between the vertical ribs - and then screwed 5mm ply to the side panels.

This has stopped all the condensation, and made it easier to here the stereo. I've slept in it a couple of times since the summer, and it was quite cosy.

Any chance of some pictures?  Did you line the roof as well?  What about the curves where the sides meet the roof?

I sleep in mine throughout the year at events, race meets and socials. The polystyrene trick is a cracker for the side panals. For the roof I used some automotive barrier insulation - it's basically two films of aluminium seperated by a layer of bubble wrap. I stuck this over the large panal areas on the roof and put a layer over the ribs too.

If got automotive felt stuck to the tub sides, the bulkhead and the top and sides of the wheel boxes, this is then covered with some car compatible carpet for toughness.

The next trick, is to use some 50L 'Really Useful' boxes (five of em) and a tool bag to cover the floor. I now have flat area (including the side boxes) wide enough for a double air-bed and sufficient storage space for bedding, cookware and general detritus. I've used this for several holidays over europe and it's been great.

I'll get some pics in daylight tomorrow - I didn't line the roof with ply, just stuck the sound proofing/insulating felt stuff to it. I was intending to line it, but even using really thin ply it was a pig to bend to shape..........so I didn't bother  :roll:

I have a hammock from ddhammocks see it here http://www.ddhammocks.com/videos.php?item=Mixed  It hangs on a couple of eyes I put in the rear corner and on the bolt at the windscreen/roof join.  It's very comfortable and I used it loads of times last summer.

Piccies of my efforts at lining the 110 - the eventual plan was/is to cover the ply with some black car-carpet.........but I've never got around to doing it !

Howdy

If you use a decent and thick enough sound deadener on the roof, you should be able to stick carpet straight over it with no need to plyline the roof - well that's my intention anyway!
