Diff seal
« on: February 14, 2009, 10:59:48 »
Has anybody changed the input seal for the front Diff? Mine has a drip (only a drip)

As far as I can see it is a case of disconnect the prop and take out the whole input face so the pinion will come with it - that looks easy enough but the manual goes no further than that; once out how hard is to to change the actual seal and is it wise to change the bearing at that same time?

By the way its a P38.

If it's the pinion seal then AFAIK you remove the flange then prise the seal out, the pinion stays put and the bearing can't be changed properly unless you strip the whole diff, just change the seal.

If it's the gasket on the axle case then you remove the diff complete.
