Doors not aligning
« on: February 19, 2009, 21:33:31 »
Ive just changed my doors over from split doors to windups but they wont close because the bottom of the door catches my tree sliders. what would cause that? Ive adjusted the hinges to tilt the door up but its not enough.

Any help greatfully received, Cal

Sounds like the door hinges are worn causing the new heavier door to drop. with new hinges there should be no reason for the doors to catch on the sliders  :-k

Try adjusting the hinges, loosen all four screws on hing, lift door using a jack on handle side, tighten all four screws up then release the jack.

Well i have fitted new hinges to the doors and adjusted the hinges by slackening them and jacking up the low end of the door gently but it has only resulted in a minor change.  :?

I was thinking my bulkhead might be twisted or the doors are off the square. Away to check right now.

i had a simular problem when i re chassied mine . i found that there is adjusting bolts between the bulkhead and the windscreen the more you tighten them the ferther forward it pulls the top of the bulkhead . do you have the hinged type of windscreen hinges?

Yes Ive got a hinged windscreen, where about are these bolts exactly?

I swapped my drivers door again to another i had  and it fits but not perfectly still low, and only just clearing my sliders.
its defiantly my bulkhead.

the bolts are eather side of the windscreen on the bottom as you tighten them the doorsdack corner should start to lift up . its a dead easy job it will only take about 5 mins 8-[
