Electric Windows on RRC Problem
« on: February 21, 2009, 09:34:45 »
Ok one by one my electric windows on my 1988 Range Rover Classic are dying. Passenger front died first but no the 2 rear windows have failed too.

Any suggestions and guidance on how to trace the fault or where to look first much appreciated.

What do you mean by dying? Sudden failure? Failure over time? Gradual loss of speed/power?

Check the connections in the back of the switches, they sometimes come loose and as such fail!

And swap the switches around to see if it makes any change - if it does then it's the switch.

Thanks checked all switches and working fine. Also checked that I had voltage to all motors when switches operated. Finally stripped out all motors and frees up with WD 40 and a good twist and all windows now working like a dream.

A very satisfying mornings work.

Put some rubber grease in the channels too, or AutoGlymm rubber care works.

also had that problem and took door panel off to find the metal runner had corroded so while you have your door in bits might be worth replacing them as water runs down inside the door so if they're not rotten now they soon will be!
