My head gasket blew last year ... we checked it at work on an engineers flat block placing the head face down on the block then trying to get a feeler guage under it,, then using a a ground block to check the bits between the barrels.. it checked out flat so we didn't skim it and it's been fine...hope this helps.. :D

yea head has to be skimmed used the lighter and straight end and saw the light coming through . . . just another question people where the fuel pipes go into the head im guessing thats the injectors connecting to the head just wondering how they come out . . just dont wna end up breaking them . . . cheers mike

LR manual says you can't skim the head :-k at least not on the 300 which isn't that different.
