Well that's me mot testing for the next 5 yrs
« on: March 05, 2009, 21:07:24 »
Well I've been on a 2 day refresher   It's changed alot in 5 yrs  it's all about minimum standards now.  So for you lot who thinks that a motor which as 12 months mot  is in good condition think again    If you read on the rear of a vt20 its down to the owner to keep it road legal for the other 364 days of the year :-.

Yet people are still moaning about stuff they thought should have passed which didnt???

I would hate to think what the bit was like if the mot tester failed it if the standards are that low now!

The problem is, as much as i can see it, the mot tester can only pass the car on wether it is safe there and then, they cant look at it and say "thats going to fail in 2 weeks" (thats what the advisory is for??)

As am not an mot tester that is just my interpretation, however will be gladly put right on this one! lol

well there is nothing that says you can't test your own vehicle? and you have to ask yourself would you drive it if you knew the axle? etc... was hanging off? personally if i wouldn't pass it i wouldn't drive it!!! :D :D

thats odd really cos you could be biased testing your own, the guy at work who does loler testing is not allowed to test our yard forklift for that reason, but he is allowed to get one of the other depots to test it
