Tow Bars and Recovery Points
« on: March 13, 2009, 23:02:40 »
Okay, whilst looking over the WJ it occurred to me that I have no tow rings, but do have a removable hitch bracket. Surprised at this, I took a look at www.wjjeeps.com and discovered that this config was actually 'standard' if the tow bar was fitted. Pity really, as this now causes me recovery problems.

Attached are a couple of photos of the bracket. Markings are as follows:
A = 28mm
B = 220mm
C = 65mm
D = 95mm
Diameter of circular holes = 15mm

Now, I've managed to get hold of a jate ring to fit the rear-most pair of holes. So, hopefully this should prove beneficial. However, I now have a couple of questions:

1. Can I get a replacement tow hitch? If so, what am I looking for?
2. Is a jate ring going to suffice, or do I need something more?
3. Is there an easy (and cheap!) way to add front and back tow loops/hooks?
4. What bright spark thought that tow loops were an option?

Hopefully, getting stuck won't be a problem, but if I can recover some of our Green Badge friends it'll be worth the inconvenience.  :D :D :D
