« on: March 20, 2009, 19:42:08 »
Ok i Think this could be the pump but just to make sure quick question.
The disco (300 tdi on a "p" plate) revs fine But when you drive it and get up to about 1750 rpm it starts to fire on three cyls but still has power. Egr is blanked off new intercooler hoses fitted It has been running great only started with this problem the other day and its on my in laws disco so the mother in laws is giving me greaf as it weas my idea for them to buy it  (alagaly).
So any ideas before i tell them to buy a new pump.

put injector cleaner in change the fuel filter and if it has one drain the water trap thingy under the rear end . then check the joins in the fuel lines for rusty holes letting air in . the symptoms you describe are like the ones I had . Turned out the elbow out of the water trap had rusted through and was sucking air at higher revs causing fuel starvation . Bypassed it and bingo.

worth a look as pumps cost a lot.....
so many hills , so little time ....
discovery TD5
work in progress...lol
