i beleive that it will be a straight fit for a defender 200 engine- 200s from discos are different as the turbo manifolds are lower down which mean some cutting of the inner wings and exhaust down pipe complications.

all the engine mounts are in the same place

you will need things like exhausts, rad and intercooler, pipes etc....

glow plug relays?

good luck

Just something to consider, I may be wrong  ( it has been known   )

The 300 tdi may be a cheaper option, there seems to be more second hand units available and defender/Disco 300 Tdi's are the same.
Where as the 200 Tdi Defender engine is different to a Disco one  :!: .

300s have different placed mounts and just be a straight fit

not sure whether they will compatible with the gearbox either

as ive got a n/a disel 90 the job couldnt be any more easier,i dnt have to change any mountings or anythin,i could throw the engine in & it would land in roughly the rightplace, ive just bought a 200tdi & as i stripped it for a college job card, ive now got to put it back together for another 1,my work has just got a 200tdi for a customer & it was around the £1200-1500 for the engine complete + labour

my friendly mechanic guy who does all the stuff to my 90 that i cant be bothered to do (which is most things   ) tells me the easyest way is to fit engine and gear box which fits straight in !

on a slightly different note mine was done years ago by land rover themselves  ands the only rtecuring problem i have is making the exhaust fit  and line up - the curent exhaust was modified with a club hammer with no ill effects a year down the line

and defender/Disco 300 Tdi's are the same.

I'm pretty sure they're not. I'll have a look a bit later in daylight as have got one of each. Off the top of my head I think they have the same differences as the 200's but won't say for sure yet til I've looked.
