 Depends on what the spots were design as whether they are Spot Driving or Fog and height.
 Wiring them in this fashion with both dip and main beam would require them to be fog lights not driving or spot lights fog light beam beam are point toward the ground locally (like Dip beam is) therefore shouldn't blind people coming in the other direction you can only use them in low visibility (less than 100meters) .
 If they are spot lights as stated you can only wire them to come on with main beam (unless only used off-road) I have how ever wire a set up for a friend with a 3 way switch to allowing him to have off, on with main beam or on on there own(*use only off road) as he uses it on a private farm for shooting. Just make sure when you MOT it that it is either in off position or on with main beam you should be OK.
There is a maximum height you can fit fog lights (usually give on documentation that come with the lights)

 *use only off road means on private property (Farm,pay and play days) you can not Legally use this on a Byway or UCR (they come under the same laws as any other highway)

If you do fit them, please make sure they are set up properly. It creates havoc to peoples night vision otherwise. Mind you, could be useful if the Luftwaffe get frisky again.

I am cheesed off with the number of posers who seem to think that front foglights are just an addition to dipped headlights whilst they drive around under perfectly adequate street lighting.
 
Surely the whole point about foglights is that they throw a low wide beam and the "bounceback" from the fog is therefore reduced ? I mean REAL fog, not when visibility falls below half a mile !

In my opinion front foglights are only really useful when the light from dipped beams is being bounced back at the driver and not penetrating the fog at all. In such a case I would use sidelights and fogs... and in such extremes even the rear foglights.

Rear foglights ?  Grrrrrr  ... They are worst thing ever put on cars simply because nobody seems to understand what they are for !

It's seemingly a 'Look At Me!!!!!!!!!' issue, because.......

1. Haven't I got a superb car, please admire its bright shiney lights
2. It's not mine & I haven't got a clue where the switches are
3. I've nicked it & can't turn anything off

Looking at your Avatar, you've still got the crappy square lights, so can't you change those for the later ones, fit some decent bulbs, plus a legal set of driving lights?

Seriously though I can sell you some Osram Nightbreaker bulbs at a very good price if you're after better bulbs. Same draw but more efficient +90% extra output.

I fitted 100w bulbs to my Disco: huge improvement!

I don't  know, but it has been through an MOT without any problems.  Plus, I can actually see where I am going now :lol:
