range rover springs

I would think so as they are nearly the same car . however V8 springs are different to the TDi springs . the Tdi lump is a lot heavyier
so many hills , so little time ....

the rangey is a v8 , i have been told that the range springs are longer than a disco tdi spring , just wonderd if any one knows if that is right

They are different part numbers between disco and RR but also different part numbers between the TDI and V8 . it's not about the length it's the spring rate thats the important bit . two springs can be the same length but give differing ride heights . if they are well cheap give them a try if not go for the proper ones for the job.... ;)

if they give me a 2in lift that will be good , did you have to cut the arches to get the 235/85/16 tyres on ,

I have a 2" lift and have trimed a little off the front bumper end caps and the rear arch to fit 235 85's .
so many hills , so little time ....

As said above as well ans free length (how long the spring is with no weight on it) the rate (the force required to compresses the spring a particular distance) is also improtant. One without the other is of little use. This is a useful guide to the lengths and rates of coil springs for land rovers.

It depends just what spec the RRC springs are, stick a pair of red/white stipe springs (RRC heavy duty rear) under the front of a discovery and you will likely have more lift than you wanted.

The Discovery is generally a bit heavier than the RRC and the RRC has a self leveling unit on the rear which allowed them to use even softer rear springs.

I bought a set of Heavy Duty +2" for my RRC. After a few years, broke the RRC and stuck them on my Tdi Disco, along with all of the other goodies. I think the fact that they are heavy duty makes up fot the extra weight of the Tdi lump. Been on two years and are fine.





I know they are different colours in different pics, I had them coated!

Surely the only weight difference is on the front? The back should be the same weight wether a Tdi or a V8?

the roof on the discovery is significantly larger and steel - RR roof was fibreglass?

The front springs are roughly the same, unless the Disco has a longer/stronger driver's side spring  (some models do)

The back end of the Disco has no SLU and a higher MAM, about 200KG IIRC.  For a lifted spring that is H/D the common spec is about 25% uprated compared to Disco and 35% uprated compared to RRC, obvioulsy once lifted the LSU is uselss (and I really ought to take mine off).

I wouldn't recomend using RRC springs on a Disco though I'm planning to try the opposite on a RRC.
