Please help me with my VW
« on: April 03, 2009, 18:59:46 »
Hi all.

I have just aquired a nice VW Passatt estate with the 1.8 turbo 20V engine. Its a lovely car, and goes like stink.

Problem is the flexi on the downpipe has gone. I have all the parts, but cant see an easy way of changing it.

Has anyone done one, or does anyone know someone who works for VW. I am a mechanic so i will find a way. But i dont want to damage the CAT. The Cat bolts onto the turbo manifold, then runs under the bulkhead. The bolts are a right swine to get to. Im thinking of unbolting it at the manifold. And hopefully moving the whole front of the exhaust either up or down to get at the bolts.

Any help would be great.

Wayne.

its easy ya ponce

unbolt the cat from the turbo & undo the join at the centre section
run it for 5 10 min to warm the bolts up & then lager in wd40 or such like,
