BTCC
« on: April 06, 2009, 17:43:03 »
Did anyone watch the BTCC at Brands Hatch yesterday? Now that's what I call motor racing. Far more exciting to watch than F1, even with it's new rules.

I've never really rated Jason Plato, but he changed my view of him in one race yesterday. His car control was simply awesome. He was 'nudged' from the rear by Matt Neil (no surprises there ) and his car was slewed round at a full 90 degrees to the track and he managed to catch it and bring it back. And he only lost two positions on the track  then promptly went on to take the place back from Matt Neil and hold second place to the finish

Stunning driving.

I was there :)

I work for Fujifilm, and we have cameras in all the cars to record the drivers view of things 'incase' of any 'incidents'.

Im lucky enough to have a season pass :)

Anyhow.. It was an awesome days racing. Now, I didnt like plato when he drove for Seat, but he seems much nicer now he is independent - What a save round paddock in race 3. Awesome.

I dont think it was fair to knock jonny adam down to second (he won btw)... plato did break really early and jonny just had to much momentum... Plato was promoted to first!

The new Ginetta G50's are wicked bits of kit - Especially when the bonnet comes off at drewids, and the bloke stopped after the flag to pick it up!

talk about credit crunch.

Bring on Thruxton.

I miss the good ole days in the mid 90's when you had BMW, Ford, Renault, Vauxhall, Audi, Alfa, Peugeot, Volvo, Nissan all trying to beat each to a pulp...

Now that's entertainment

I've had a long-standing wish to get hold of a Volvo 850 T5 estate and build a replica of one of the BTCC cars.

Yes, they did race the estate. Apparently it was found that the aerodynamics were significantly better than the saloon and that the extra weight was negligable!
