Whats broken this time ? Time for a change!!!
« on: April 17, 2009, 17:20:21 »
Hiya In the last few weeks my Disco has devolped a awful wobble, so bad that it was said u could see the back of the disco shaking.
I had a wheel bearing going on the nearside front so we... lol well ok bigA changed it for me :) and the wobbly was greatly reduced but upon driving it again for the week its still there just not as bad.

Checked the prop UJs and there solid no movement at all
All the other Bearings seem Fine too no excessive movements in the wheels

But today upon returning from a fruitfull shopping trip ive had a distinct clunk and and squeeling like a bearing but only when in gear if i take it out and put into neutral and coast, it stops str8 away ???

Could anyone suggest sumthing i could look at or try to solve this?  :(

Now ive got 3 landrovers that are all broken lol only got till tuesday nite b4 i need the car for work too super eh?

not much help mate, but, could this be related to the gear change problems you have had recently? not that i would have thought that would cause a wobble? like i said, not much help  :(

Check the wheels are balanced properly, check the swivel pin housing pre loads are ok and one of the swivel housing bearings hasn't collapsed, check the state of the bushes in the trailing arms (could be doing a little rear wheel steer), check the same on the front hockey sticks, and check the wheel niuts are done up tight.

If its none of them, it could be something like a bent rear trailing arm or bent axle casing.

no but I do have a disco coming up for sale with no wobble and gears that work  ;)

Tis a puzzling one though why it would wobble. Is it a side to side wobble or up n down wobble or just any direction it fancies? Anti roll bar bushes or a shock going?

sometimes very simple things are the cause. Not very often mind!!

My disco is free to the collector but I have an amount of beer tokens in mind which buys you the keys!!  ;)
