clutch master cylinder and water pump?
« on: April 25, 2009, 15:32:37 »
hi everyone got twoproblems concerning my 90 200tdi at the moment first off, i lost power on the clutch, ordered a new master and slave both fitted fine but the union bolt for the pipe on the master was too big and would not fit i assumed could be just an accident so i ordered a lucas master for it again same problem. im curious if its just my pipe that needs changing or is it the wrong master? so second question is i have been hearing a squeal from the front of the car whilst driving in gear, my mate assured me it was the drive belt which is making the noise from high tension but im suspicious as when i opened the bonet the water pump seems to be leaking coolant and my level has seriously dropped below the minimum could it be the water pump bearings going as i have had something similar before or is it something else? thanks for reading any help appreciated.

hi there

with out seeing the vehicle id have to say yes its the water pump! not too bad a job once you get viscos fan off  32mm left hand treaded nut  iirc

and you should have adaptor for the clutch master cylinder that screws in where the pipe union joins the cylinder then the pipe union screws into the adaptor hope this makes sense it is early sunday morning after all

hi mate

sorry but I cant help you regarding the adaptor you just normally remove it from the old master cylinder and screw into the new one ,have you still got the old cylinder,if not it may be a trip to the main dealers or a local hydraulic hose specialist
