need help

I was wondering if anyone could help i was thinking of buying a series 3 109.it needs a new lay shaft(is that a hard job?)its up for £950 do you think it was worth it?

buy a new box i bought 2a box and transfer for£36 on eblag couple of weeks ago might be easier to change whole box or build one good out of two, might have one for sale shortly.

depends on the rest of the motor i suppose if the chassis is solid and bulkhead isn't more air than steel. engine is good? tax exempt? if the rest of it is solid its worth the cash and as has been said just pick up a new box then rebuild your old one as and when. could make back the cost of your replacement one :)

to be honest, £950 is a bit steep for a series motor with a knackered gearbox, unless the rest of it is in real tip top condition, ie NO rust/patches on the chassis/bulkhead etc. I'd be looking for a tax exempt motor for that kind of money, preferably with a galv chassis.
