We are camping at Bala offroad this weekend so may bump into you, most lanes are doable in standard cars, just watch if it rains before going across the river, other than that you should be fine, I read that the sleepers have been repaired at the wayfarer this week ( cheers Hoodo ) so you should have a good trip.

Forecast is good, and the lanes are good. Shouldn't have any problems. May see you in the area (Sunday).

Hi All

We had heavy rain here last night and more is forecast for tomorrow but sat should be dry until nightfall however the water takes a bit of time to get down to the river so check and if in doubt don't risk it there have been a few horror stories of late...have fun be safe. :D

This came up about 18 months ago - the Environment Agency are asking for voluntary restraint in using the ford during certain times due to the fact the water course in the area is recognised as a spawning area for salmon and trout. At the time the EA was asking for restraint during the spawning season but this time of year now is when the young fish will be making their way towards the sea and the spawning season is around September to January.

Plus the fact using the name Corwen "carwash" doesn't paint too good a picture when you bear in mind that under the Water Resources Act 1991 and the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries Act 1975 the introduction of polluting matter (including sediment) to watercourses and the wilful disturbance of fish spawning grounds constitute criminal offences.

This whole thing about fish spawning was shown at the time to be a total con. Is whoever perpetrated that one trying it on again?

I agree, I will be driving it on sunday. The only way it is going to harm the fish is if you drive over them. The last time it was a hoax and the same this time. I am a fisherman aswell as a green laner.

The ony problem is the tossers who drive off the ROW and on to the farmers land.

But if the Environment Agency have really made an official proclaimation that this area constitutes a salmon spawning ground, surely the acts mentioned above come into play? It would need a particularly stroppy Police Officer pushing the case through, but there are a few of them about...

I agree with what Paul says and it does look like another attempt to keep us from a legal right of way, but I'm just thinking that common sense and government bodies don't usually go together!

That's the whole point. The EA knew nothing about the last fiasco. No one of the name given on the E-mail worked for them!

I have a GLASS Camping/laning weekend in this area next weekend and we will do the "Corwen Ford" if the water level is low enough.

Wonder if we could put a similar hoax together directed at a bobbly hotspot which has no vehicular rights?

Agreed, it was a con last time and proven to be one.

Si thank for the heads up though, it could have been genuine.
