got me a new car
« on: May 11, 2009, 18:02:28 »
haha! got rid of my crappy 306(wasn't actually crappy, i just hate french cars  :-$) traded it in for a 1998 Astra will full service history, new tax, 4 new tyres
cam belts done 4k ago cruse controle, lecci mirrors, CD player A/C, remote central locking. immaculate in and out only had 2 owners £800  :D
only costs £350 for me to insure it!

wanted a 90 or 110 but don't have the money to build daisy AND buy/insure/run a defender! think its better i have the sensible car and the radical.
i am amazed at how smooth it is though i was driving down the A11 earleyer and didn't realise i was doing 9......70 8-[  and diddnt realise
it is annoying that it doesn't have a rev counter though, at least with a defender you can hear the engine and know when to change up

anyone got one? anything to look out for?

I had a 1.6 LSi for a company car a good few years back, other than being too tall to be able get the drivers seat in a decent position for my right knee it was fine. Only problem I ever had with it was the electric aerial packed up.

I had one of these for a long time on a R plate, never gave me a problem and if fettled with nicely, they do give a surprising turn of speed. :D The only thing to watch out for is if yours has the height adjustable steering wheel, the catch to release it used to come undone occasionally, which meant it was like using a steering wheel with air suspension.

Oh - and the engine, fortunately, is not one of the dreaded Vauxhall interference engines.
