anti roll bar on disco 300tdi

after looking under the back end of my disco i have discovered the anti roll bar bushes have had it there all over the place :'(
a few ppl have told me to take the anti roll bar off cause i dnt need for off roading it gets in the way so to speak i was just wondering if any body has taken theres off or some1 could suggest what i should cheers

mine did the same 1 drop link was pointng up the other was pointing down and the bushes were sort of ruined, I just unbolted the lot and scrapped it! :)

Much better now and less to fail the mot on! ;)

The only thing you'll notice if you take the roll bars off is that the body will sway more in the corners on road.

You might get a little bit more axle articulation too but I doubt it'll be enough to notice.

yea my brackets are the same mate 1 is up and th other 1 is dwn.i think im going to take it off then
it wont fail the mot if its not on the vehicle will it ?

Took both mine off and threw them in the bin. You do get a little more body roll. But if you have got decent bushes in the hockey sticks etc then its really not too bad.

I beg to differ on the axle articulation. I have to say they were restricting it considerably! I get the full travel now - the springs dislocate nicely where as they were hampered before.

would you suggest discolation cones go on first before i take the anti roll bar off
iv also heard that you dnt have to use the cones u can use jubilee clips i no that sounds the bojjing way to do it but wen money is tight i cnt be helped if u no wat i mean :lol:

iv took my rear anti roll bar off and im planning on using jubilee clips to hold the springs in. my old disco came with the same set up and people were always commenting on how well it twisted and their was no clanging when it leveled out like you get with dislocation cones. also, i read in the LRO that it was a cheap mod to do ( under a tenner) as mine was the only one id seen like this i was reasured that it was ok. if anyone else has any comments ( pros and cons) i would love to hear about them.

i removed both anti rol bars on my disco, and all was well for a couple of years. Recently though, i replaced the rear trailing arm bushes, axle end, and the back struggled to stay in a straight line, and cornering was terrible, so i have now replaced the rear ARB ??? (after selling mine years before, and then having to obtain a replacement)

As to the jubilee clips on the springs, on my old 90, i had the rear springs clipped up with cable ties, and they lasted ok and worked a treat, so jubilee clips should be fine.

Actually the roll bars were restricting the spring movement to within the limits that Land Rover designed into the system. Once the springs dislocate you reduce the available traction as there's nothing forcing the wheel on that corner down onto the ground except the weight of the axle and wheel.

i removed the anti roll bar on my 3.9 disco, from what i can see the shock (procomp) wouldn't allow the spring to dislocate anyway. From what i can see 2 inch kits have std length shocks so you would only need cones if you lower the shock mount or fit longer shocks.

Judged from looking at my disco but maybe my bushes are shagged so dont take it as read. If you realy what the spring to stay put then fit check straps

i removed my roll bars too , i wouldnt say it is too bad on the road but i drive steady anyway. when you say jubilee clips , do you clip them at the top or bottom . ?  .alan

clip them at the top, the bottom of the rear springs should have retaining plates fitted anyway

Personaly I llike to keep them on, but you need to space the ARB mounts if you lift the truck or even fit longer shocks.  Yes they can be a pain otherwise but I doubt they limit my off-road ability as much as the front one, I never regret having kept them anyway and my truck still handles well.
