right, basically my disco has more holes in it than i can be arsed to patch up now and as the mot is about out i went a bought a bobtail disco off a guy down the road.
it had a 4.2l V8 in it which is coming out in place of my 200tdi out of my current disco.

im looking for an insurance company which is going to understand the modifications done to it.
body cut. Big wheels and tyres, big lift and the rest.

has anyone got anyone they recommend using as im 22 and my standardish disco costs enough :P

try adrian flux or sureterm. there is also another modified car company who will insure anyone on anything for a chosen piriod. ie you can insure it for a week if you want.

when i was 18 i got a quote on my bobtail at £3009 with 3 winches silly suspension rollcage ect from adrian flux.

Sorry to put a damper on things but unless that has been properly registered as a bobtail discovery i wouldn't bother with the insurance because in the event of an accident nobody will pay out on an incorrectly registered vehicle. Any insurance company will take your money for the cover on the vehicle based on how you describe it but will use the loophole of incorrect registration to get out of paying in the event of an accident. This will also leave you in the position of being done by the police for driving without insurance and being sued by other drivers for injuries/damage.

If it has not been registered correctly you will need an IVA test costing £490 and will need to do a lot of work to the vehicle to make it comply. I would suggest you go on the vosa website and download a copy of the manual and see what work you will need to do, it will not be easy.

As it stands at the moment you have a vehicle that technically you will be breaking the law if you drive it on the public highway so think carefully about what you do.
