injection pumps edc & non edc please HELP

Right then,
                  situation is :-  I have fitted an 300tid engine from an r-reg 1997 into my r-reg 1998 auto EDC, the engine fitted had a fuel injection pump with 2 plugs coming off it think one is part of the immoberliser, this wouldnt allow any fuel trough it so fitted the original fuel injection pump with edc this wont allow any fuel through either  , question is has any one else had this problem ? & do you think an 'older' style pump would work ?

From what i've heard one of the plugs on the injection pump is to do with the "EGR",so wouldn't have thought that that would stop it from
starting.You say you have no fuel getting through, i presume the fuel is getting into the pump? Would ahve thought that one of the wires on the other plug
would control the fuel stop solenoid so if you can identify that and give it an ignition feed i would have thought that you would then have fuel coming out
of the pump. Aern't the other wires to do with the immobiliser?
I only base this on what i've picked up and cannot guarantee it will work,but i cannot see any reason why it shouldn't at least start.

Hi Niel, we did try putting a live feed to all the wires in turn but still no good, now you have mentioned the erg wires yes the relacement engine did have a plug fitted on the top of the vacume/erg, may have to buy a ''standard'' inj/pump & try again, this edc stuff has way to many elecy bits even has some sort of airflow box which was full of water  :shock:,

If you know of anyone breaking a 300 let me know

Update:- 
               Have been told today that the wires on the back of the pump are part of the immoberliser & if you 'smash' it off & take the two wires & immoberliser part away there is only one wire remaining & this is the live feed for the stop selinoid, any body else heard this  :-k?  the engine did run in the other car prior to being fitted into this one

Hi John,

If you pm me with your email addy then I'll send you the relevant pages from the workshop manual and electrical manuals.

If the engine you've just fitted came from a manual transmission then it won't have all the necessary sensors that the EDC needs to start and run the engine. You can overcome that by fitting the cylinder head from your original engine onto the new one and making sure that the injector in No. 4 cylinder is the type with an electrical connection (and that the wire is connected). The EDC injection pump doesn't have an accelerator cable - it's controlled electrically from the ECM.

Nothing in the EGR system should prevent the engine from starting. Fitting a "manual" injection pump to an EDC vehicle requires a fair bt of modification to the vehicle and a different ECM. It's not for the faint hearted :-)

John as far as smashing the back off the injection pump then yes i've heard of this,we used to do uit to the peugeots when the immobiliser
had problems, we then fitted a standard stop solenoid and wired it to an ignition feed.

Yes done this last night & hey presto it runs  :dance:

Now got to put all the other bits & bobs back on, Then put a accelerator cable in as the fly by wire dont have one  :shock:, all being well shoul have it done this week AT LAST
