my mate is getting his disco 300tdi ready for mot and has removed the anti roll bars will it pass or does he need to remove mounts for the bar it's a m reg

if you mean the mounting plates on the chassis then no, all discos have them.

Nope - I just unbolted everything and it passed OK.
The tester said 'if it's not there. then I can't test it can I... ;-)

no you just have to remove the drop links as the discos were type approved with both set ups

removing the drop link arm off is perfectly legal for an MOT test
