Sounds drastic but could be faster and easier to just get new engine?

Hi
I assume its a 300 Tdi. Either you have something wrong with the head or block or you are [!Expletive Deleted!] something up when changing the head gasket (sorry to be blunt)
If you flog it as is you might only get a few hundred quid for it, for the same amount you can get a replacement engine.
You might get more if you strip it and flog it in parts, but that's a pain in the ass.
If the underside & boot floor is all ok, I would replace the engine.

Take the winch and bumper off and flog separately (or indeed keep for the next one)
The rest as Wizard says is a couple of hundred max. With a decent engine they are worth £400 max (obviously ones with no MOT which I assume yours has)

If it's solid I'd stick either a new head on it or a second hand lump, even if you then sell it, I don't think you'll make a lot from breaking it other than the engine.
I broke one last year and the interior was the only bit that fetched any money, the bodywork no-one wanted.

should stick it on Fleabay ;), put a buy now of 1k  on it, tell the prospective buyers its got absolutely no rust whatsoever, :^o drives like a dream, no clunks, noises whines groans or other usual Landrover noises :^o :^o, doesnt pee oil over the carport [-X and best of all it has no scratches, dents or scuffs on the bodywork and the interior is so clean you could eat your dinner off it .........i know that sounds a little dramatic but considering whats been on Fleabay lately yours is a rolls royce!........Seriously, i just bought the one i am breaking. It "only" failed on boot floor needing welding, the guy showed a pic of about 6" of rust on the boot. The pics showed the beast looking lovely and shiney, but he casually forgot to say they belonged to the previous owners advert when he bought it 2 years previously ......lacquer peel, doors dented, gouge on back panel ......nothing else required for MOT :^o......so i quickly look underneath and see more chalk marks than on a primary school blackboard ......"have you got the fail sheet mate please?" "yes mate, here it is"...hmmm only page 3 :-k......and not from the blooming Sun newspaper either!....so i ask where the rest is and he sheepishly stretches into his inner pocket and produces pages 1 & 2!!!....well well well ....or should i say not so well....inner wings, boot floor, sills, arches, to name but merely a few of the body parts that needed welding
......i climb inside and have a rummage, my eye catches a bright red blob on the seat.... then the remainder of the copious amounts of half-sooked sweeties stuck to the interior and wedged into every orifice a Disco could possibly have pre-rust affliction....kids are so sweet aint they ;) ....Then i mention the rear door won't open? how did you take the pic then i say......he goes  and says he climbed in the back so me being me, pops the landrover badge off the handle and peers inside......hmm a "V" shaped door handle bar....wonder how that got bent? quick prise with a screwdriver and voila, the rear door pops open.....as i peer in the back, i get that nauseous feeling you get when you look down off a cliff edge....must have been the" 6" hole" in the boot i was peering into.....either that or he cant measure for toffee ......so wheres the boot floor you ask? well theres the fuel tank, theres the shocker mounts, theres the floor supports but im certain you aint supposed to see them unless you are underneath the vehicle mate :?!......anyway, by this time the seller has run out of porkies so i fired her up and i was stunned .....not by the sweet sound of the purring V8, not by the glorious burbling of the exhaust and not by the sheer throbbing power of the V8......but by the blooming windscreen as the gearbox decided to go into gear all by itself and i get ejected from the veehickle whilst it rapidly careers down the hill in reverse with the seller chasing it hehe....so having caught it just in time, he drives it back and as i dust myself off, rub the rapidly expanding bump on my bonce i decide to part with the cash, albeit £150 less than the requested total and risk driving it home. I was pleasantly surprised though, pulled well, steering was fine.....if it wasnt for the self-selecting gearbox and the " 6" spot of welding" needing doing i would have actually kept the beast.......but another rustbucket err Discovery adorned my driveway a day later so the V8 has to go.....have a look in the for sale section if you want any sticky, sweet covered, rusty, holed, oily parts [-X. Sorry for the long winded reply but have a laugh and if you laughed as much as i did, then you have had enough!!!
cheers

From my recent experiences I would say it is worth the effort to break it. If you can spare an hour or so each night you can get a reasonable return I think.
