another nice man
« on: June 20, 2009, 19:45:57 »
got the engine unbolted from my 127 project this morning, went to the farm up the road and picked up a mini digger to lift the engine out and onto the scrap pile. all hooked up and pulled on the engine, but the digger wouldnt move it, despite the engine being well within the capacity of the digger, so there was something wrong with it. took the digger back and the farmer said no charge for it as it didnt do what you wanted , got talking and he said "im buying a new 1 ton engine crane on monday, come and borrow it anytime". then as we were stood there he saw an old tractor engine hoist behind some fencing in the yard and he said "we never use that any more, have it if you want, dont know if it still works though "
so i took it back up the barn, wd40ed it up and it all works fine!its huge, goes up to about 10feet and lifts up to 30cwt so should have no problem with a tdi!
well pleased :D

so landrover project rule number 144: get to know your local farmer :)

second that, the farm i worked on before i moved had an abundance of stuff laying in the yard.mark(the farmer) loaded up the trailer with about half of it and look it to be weighed in. came back with a brand new freelander 2 in the trailer........weighed in all the stuff for 32k!!!!!!!!!!!!! and the yard is still full of rubbish! well not rubbish to me, i know for a fact there is a forklift in there that i can scavange the steering system off of.
