Any good for what? Depends on what you want to do in it?

In short- it's probably not as good for hardcore off roading as say, a LR Defender or Toyota Landcruiser (lacks rear difflocks etc.) but they have their own appeal and hold up well in offroad situations. The UK/US 4Runner is the same vehicle as the Hilux Surf but badged differently. More info on 4Runner/Surf here:

any good in terms of reliability and for green laning

considering the disco has only got the centre difflock anything more would be a bonus

im still out for the landcruiser though its just finding the right one at the right price

patience is called for of which i dont have much

A 4Runner/Surf would be fine for most greenlanes- even for quite extreme offroading. A Landcruiser might be physically too big for some lanes (and definately a bit of handfull in town)- but ultimatly is the better offroader.

Here's a picture I took today of a 4runner/Surf doing some more extreme stuff at Avon Dassett Quarry!

Just thought I'd pop into the Toyota section to say Hello - Hello.

We had a 4runner.  It was ok.  Loads of boot space. :D

I think spec and performance would be similar to the Shogun Sport I had (til it was taken without consent!!!)

That performed realy well on the lanes but did lack any form of diff-lock and suffered with ground clearance issue for play sites.

It did have limited slip diff but I will admit the disco does perform better so far off road on the sites.

My mate at work has one but he owned it in Saudi so only drove it in the desert. Said it was great though, maybe Southport Beach appeals to you :)

Someone posted this te other week, awesome piccies in places

If I could only find some mud to play in, I would be as happy as the preverbial pig!!!

1985 Land Rover 90 being worked on for French plates soon
2002 Peugeot 406 GLX Estate - more economic then the Disco, but not as much fun :(
2005 Toyota Yaris T3 - new driving school car
